A Romantic Day for Two in Bankside
Start the day at Tate Modern, admiring the impressive art installation in the gallery’s Turbine Hall and then enjoy one of Tate’s temporary exhibitions. In 2008 the exhibitions planned include Duchamp, Man Ray, Picabia and Mark Rothko.
Located on Level 7 with one of the best views in London, the Tate Modern Restaurant offers a perfect lunch stop. With Spanish and Italian influences. the winter menu offers venison carpaccio with celeriac remoulade; Duck leg confit with polenta and cipollini onions; toasted ciabatta with seasonal mushrooms and poached duck egg. For traditionalists, the finest Cornish haddock & chips is a favourite.
Next make your way eastwards along the river walkway and visit Vinopolis and take one of their self-guided tours which offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about, explore and sample the wines and spirits of the world all in one place.
In the summer, finish the day with an evening performance at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, a faithful reconstruction of Shakespeare's open-air playhouse. In the winter, find out what is on at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
