Regeneration of Bankside
The regeneration of the Tate Modern and surrounding area of Bankside has had a huge effect on the area. Not only does the area look different but it has created employment opportunities, brought income into the area and has attracted huge numbers of visitors.

Role and Objectives of Southwark’s Tourism Unit
Southwark Council’s Tourism Unit is part of the Environment and Housing department and has been since 2006. Previously Tourism fell under Regeneration. Tourism works very closely with Environment and Housing on events, visitor management, crime, and rubbish collection.
