Film Locations in Bankside - follow the stars!
Bankside, in particular the area around Borough Market and the riverside, has been used for many film locations. The most notable are Bridget Jones, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Bridget Jones' (Renee Zellweger) flat is above The Globe on Bedale Street. Across Bedale Street you can see the shops which were tranformed into the cab office, the newsagent and, of course, the fictitious Greek restaurant where caddish Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) and D'Arcyish Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) slug it out during a birthday party. Bridget also plods glumly through Borough Market after discovering Cleaver with Lara, from the New York office.
The dark, pillared space used as a car park behind the Globe pub is also where smitten Victorian gent Charles (Jeremy Irons) searches for Meryl Streep among the whores in The French Lieutenant's Woman.
In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the Knight Bus scenes were filmed in Borough Market and along Blackfriars Bridge and The Leaky Cauldron stands beneath the railway bridge on Stoney Street opposite Borough Market.
You may also recognise Park Street from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The gang's hang-out, also used in that other slice of seedy London low life, Howards End, is 15 Park Street, SE1, a wonderfully undeveloped street opposite Borough Market. Dog's place, next door, is 13 Park Street. This area will undergo drastic changes due to the Thameslink developments so come see them before some of the buildings disappear.

Stop for a pint at the Anchor Tavern on the Bankside riverside by Southwark Bridge. It is here that Ethan (Tom Cruise) finally unwinds in Mission Impossible.
On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays head to bustling Borough Market, to stock up on exquisite delicacies and good-value seasonal fish, vegetables and fruit.
Enjoy some art at Tate Modern, the old Bankside Power Station turned cutting edge art gallery, where Bridget and her friends hang out and where Nola (Scarlett Johansson) and Chris (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) meet by chance in Match Point.
Take a stroll along the Bankside Riverside - in Match Point Chris throws the ring from the riverside walk to hide the evidence of his crime.
