Dulwich for families
Start at the Horniman Museum on London Road. This is a free family friendly museum and seeks to encourage a wider appreciation of the World, its peoples and cultures and its environment. It was founded in 1901 by the Victorian tea trader Frederick Horniman and is set in 16 acres of gardens with an animal centre and new aquarium. They also run a large programme of activities aimed at children.
From there walk along to Dulwich Park where there is a large children's playground, plenty of open games spaces and a chance to hire tandem bicycles as well as a boating lake. It also has a number of sporting facilities including tennis courts and football pitches. For lunch head to the hidden gem that is the Pavilion Cafe set in the middle of the park. They offer cakes, sandwiches and fresh food cooked on the premises along with outside seating for those summer days.
